What's new with Wealthsimple in February 2025
A new account to open, a new way to start your taxes, and a new opportunity to save for retirement.

WHAT'S LAUNCHED LATELY ✨
Let margin trading boost your potential returns
Margin accounts let you invest with borrowed money, boosting any positive returns (and amplifying any losses). Our rates are as low as prime -0.5%. That's better than what you'll get at any Canadian bank. Plus, get a 1% cash bonus if you transfer $15K* by March 15, and a health tracker that lets you know when you're at risk of a margin call. Open a margin account.
Wealthsimple Tax is ready for you
Now that NETFILE is open, tax season is officially here — and so is an updated version of Wealthsimple Tax. Last year, more than two-million Canadians auto-filled, auto-saved, and auto-loved our easy-to-use software. You’ll probably like it too. File now. Not ready to start? Learn more about Wealthsimple Tax.
Going somewhere? Use the app while you're abroad
Wealthsimple works across the world so that you can continue to manage your money, spend (with no added FX fees!), and trade while travelling. Want to see if your Cash card can tag along on your next trip? It’s accepted in most countries. See a list of excluded countries.

TAX DATES 🗓️
- RRSP contribution deadline is March 3. Be sure to get your contributions in by then to save on your 2024 taxes. Contribute now.
- RRSP contribution receipts are in. If you contributed to your RRSP between March 2 and December 31 of last year, you should’ve gotten a confirmation slip by the end of January. And sure, it’s suitable for framing.
- Your T4, T4A, and T5s are coming! You should have your T4s, T4As, and T5s by February 28. Look for them on Wealthsimple Tax or your CRA My Account.
- Capital gains changes. You might have heard about a deferral to capital gains changes. For most of you, this won't have any impact. If you have no gains to report this year you can start filing. If you do, you won't be able to file until the CRA opens it up. Read on.
