Meet our re-designed Wealthsimple app
There’s so much to think about when you think about money: How much am I saving? How much am I investing? How much did I spend? On that? Seriously? So we redesigned our app to make it easier to see your total wealth, and manage your spending, saving, and investing all in one place.
Why, yes, the Wealthsimple app has changed lately. Thank you for noticing! As our banking and investing products grow, we want our app to grow too, to best reflect your full financial life. Learn about what’s different and see how to use the updated Home tab, and the new Spend and Invest tabs.
What’s changed
We’ve introduced three major updates: a new Home tab, a separate Spend tab, and a dedicated Invest tab
- Home: See your total wealth and all accounts in one view.
- Spend: Swipe left for day-to-day banking – chequing, savings, and your Wealthsimple credit card.
- Invest: Swipe right to get a breakdown of your investments—whether they're self-directed, managed, or both. Explore watchlists, holdings, and performance insights, and easily buy or sell stocks, ETFs, and crypto."
Why we made these changes
You spoke and we listened: you wanted to separate banking from investing.
- “Since I've moved most of my banking to wealthsimple, I've been forced to see my investment balances when I login. This is counterintuitive to a hands-off approach that many passive investors seek to have - the more we see our balances, the harder it is to resist the urge to tinker with our allocations.”
- “I would like to hide all of my investment balance and still see my Cash and Credit Card amounts. When you want to do some basic banking like sending an e-transfer to someone, there’s always the risk of showing your whole portfolio balance.”
- “I like to see all my accounts going up and see the main amount at the top is my investment, but if I start using Cash it will be a rollercoaster and more difficult to track my real investment. Yes I can go into each account separately or just subtract each Cash account, but I would like to see a feature that excludes Cash from the graph.”
So, we did just that:
- We separated your cash and investment accounts
- We created a full financial snapshot in the new Home tab
- And we added richer insights and helpful prompts for offers, updates, and promotions
While the Spend and Invest tabs are new, we’ve kept the access points at the base of the app the same. These include:
- Move money: Use the two arrows icon to move an account to Wealthsimple, quickly access bill pay, send or manage e-transfers, pay friends with Wealthsimple, send a wire transfer, get direct deposit info, set up automations, and more.
- See your account activity: Tap the clock icon to get an overview of recent account activity, including upcoming scheduled activities. Plus, there’s the option to filter by activity type.
- View the Discover tab: Tap the magnifying glass icon to see the latest TLDR editions or read other market insights.
How to use the Spend tab
The Spend tab is your hub for all activity related to your chequing accounts and any USD savings accounts. This is now where you can go to track spending, manage your card, send or receive money, and access key features like bill pay and Interac e-Transfer®.
We’ve made updates to help you stay on top of your spending with less effort. These design changes include:
- Your balance, automations, and key actions — all upfront: At the top, you’ll see your current balance, including interest and cashback earned this month. Coming soon, If you deposit your paycheque into Wealthsimple, you’ll see a payday countdown to help track your pay cycle — plus an easy way to set up payday automations to automatically invest part of your pay into stocks, ETFs, or other accounts.
- Quick access to key money moves: We’ve made it simple to handle core actions like transfers, Interac e-Transfers, and bill payments — all from the top of the Spend tab.
- Cards and accounts, clearly organized: Your main chequing account with your Prepaid Mastercard and your Credit Card account appear first, showing balances, cashback, and monthly interest (for chequing). Tap any account for a deeper breakdown, including joint accounts or USD savings accounts if you have them.Unified activity feed: Scroll down to see all your recent transactions — including purchases, bill payments, transfers, and reimbursements, like ATM reimbursements from Wealthsimple — in one clean, consolidated feed.
How to use the Invest tab
The Invest tab is where you can now see, manage, and grow your wealth. It gives a full picture of your investments – whether you’re using managed portfolios, trading on your own, or crypto – and makes it very easy to track and understand performance or make contributions when you’re ready.

Things to love about the new Invest tab:
- Total value and growth front and centre: Just like the Spend tab, your total investment balance sits at the top, alongside your all-time growth and a graph to track performance over time. Below the graph, you’ll find a link to our weekly market report, written by our in-house experts.
- Account tiles for better organization: Your investments are now grouped into two main tiles — Trading (formerly Self-directed Invest) and Portfolios (formerly Managed Invest). Each shows a drop-down list of accounts and a quick glance at their performance. Tap into any account for details on holdings, historical returns, forecasts, and past activity.
- More insight in Trading: The Trading tile displays all your holdings, watchlists, and available CAD/USD cash, plus any recurring investments you’ve set up. It’s your home base for DIY investing.
- Clearer Portfolio breakdowns: In the Portfolios tile, you’ll see your managed accounts with a summary of total growth. Tapping in reveals your portfolio type, asset mix and performance over time — giving you transparency into how your money is managed and why.
Additionally, our new Investing Insights section gives you personalized information on your returns, account deposits, dividends earned, and more over time so you can easily track performance across your entire portfolio.
We hope managing your money is even easier with the new app, and we’d love to know how you like it. If you have feedback or ideas about how we can improve, we’re all ears. Reach out anytime.
