Until now, you needed a margin account to sell puts. Not anymore! You can now run cash-secured put strategies in your TFSA or RRSP, where you can hold enough cash to cover assignment while you collect premium, or buy shares at a lower effective price. It's a straightforward way to put cash to work in the accounts Canadians use most. And we're not stopping there.
Over the coming weeks, we're rolling out iron condors, iron butterflies, and their long counterparts for traders who want to capitalize on range-bound markets or low volatility. If you've been waiting to sell premium with defined risk on both sides, or express a view that a stock will land near a specific price at expiration, these tools are for you. They build on the spreads you're already trading — credit, debit, calendar, diagonal — all with zero commissions or contract fees. Just more ways to generate income, manage risk, and trade with precision, because the more control you have over how you express your market view, the better.
